At hand over (soonest with 14 weeks) our kitten are dewormed repeatedly and immunized against the following cat deseases:
- Cat flu (two times)
- Panleukopenia (two times)
- Cat leukemia (two times)
- Rabies
Furthermore all of our kittens, irrespective if fancy or breeding animal, are equipped with a microchip emplant and therefore get the blue EU pet passport, which is required for journey abroads since July 2004. The microship is also used to identify your cat in case of disappearance. The registration takes place at Tasso, so that your cat can be found internationally

| The price of a pedigree cat |
Many cat lovers, who decide to buy a pedigree cat, may think about this question. Inspired by a pedigree cat exhibition or an article in a cat magazine the wish to own one of this beautiful animals is growing. Busily the classified ads in the animal markets or in popular cat magazines are rolled over it or it is inquired for a kitten directly at a federation.
Suddenly displeasure and frustration can take place in the face of the seemingly horrendous price settings of the breeders. And one may ask himself, why should he pay € 700 for a fancy animal although he won’t exhibit and the pedigree will get dusty in the deposition.

Soon it is agreed that the breeders must be rather greedy for money. But fortunately there are also many “breeders” who bandy their animals about for a low price. Their cats do also have a pedigree, but they often cost as half as much as the cats of a breeder associated to our federation.

What’s behind such blatant price differences?
Species-appropriate animal husbrandy has it’s price. Therefore it is to be assumed that crash prices are only possible when parent cats and whelps are paying the price with their psychic and physical health.
Those deplorable animals are often the product of mass breeding, which have progency and sale as their only aims. The dams are blushless exploited by to early and too frequent coverage till they are weak and emaciated. At the pairing health, quality and character find no attention and a primary health care cannot be assumed. It would be too expensive. Beyond it the whelps are often handed over too early (before 13th postnatal week) – in this way the dam can be covered again soon. Even a layperson can image that kitten sired and nurtured under such conditions are mostly diseased and weak.
If the baby survives the first weeks at it’s new holder, often horrendous vet costs are incurring – much higher than the amount a breeder of our association would have demanded. Possibly such animals will never get healthy, which is not just expensive but also means a lot of grief. |

All breeders associated to the 1. DEKZV e.V. are liable to the breeder guidelines, which are closely aligned to the animal welfare act. They are also ruling the minimum age for the first coverage of the dam and the frequency of the allowed coverages as well as the medical provision (immunisation, anthelmintic therapy) and the earliest possible age for the hand over of the kittens. |
Hereby optimal conditions are guaranteed, from which healthy and mentally strong animals result. Not later than here it has to be clear that a species-appropriate handling with animals has it’s price. If one of our breeders is only demanding a few hundred Euros for his kitten, this amount would shortly cover his costs for the small kitten – from the fees for the covering male cat over the medical provision of mother and kitten to the top quality feed, which guarantees an optimal care. Alongside are diseases, from which even a responsible breeder is not immuned. A big deal is not to be done by selling animals.
If kitten are offered at remarkable low prices, a disregard of their bodily and emotional requierements is to be assumed.
Only who’s producing cheap can sell cheap!
The bill is payed primarily by the animals! But also the new owners won’t get away cheap in most cases. From such bargains only ruthless profiteers will come out satisfied. They do not only benefit from the sale but also make way for new wares.
